We went to dine out last night. It was a South Indian restaurant, where people are generally friendly and tolerant of noisy toddlers. The daughter was her usual self - banging the (s)poon, fork, glasses (steel) on the table, dropping them, jumping up and down on her high chair, shrieking occasionally, and such stuff.
Our ever-so-friendly kiddo exchanged hellos with the people around us. More than once with a single guy behind our table waiting for his meal.
Her dosa came, and she started digging in. She was done in 5 bites. Yep, she's quick, eats light, and seems to think she can survive on air, milk, sleep and laughter.
Our dosas came, and we tried our best to eat them as soon as possible. In the meantime, she was being her usual self, as mentioned above.
She then dropped the spoon she was playing with. We had used all the spares we had on the table. So we asked for a new one. The wait was long. She tried to grab mine, but I told her that I was using it and she had to wait.
So the kiddo turned around, and told the single guy behind us eating his meal "I need a poon" - LOL!!!! At first, he didn't know what to say, he just smiled. Then, he told her the same thing I did....and right then, the waitress came over to hand us two clean spoons for her to play with. Thank you to the stranger for being so sweet!
Not sure what's awaiting us at our next outing :)!

I can so relate to the dropping of the spoons..and btw..we went out for a south indian dinner on friday night and had to ask for extra spoons too!
Ha ha ha .. loved reading this !
"seems to think she can survive on air, milk, sleep and laughter" - laughter is so very important and I am glad your daughter has discovered that at an early age !
That "stranger" was Meeeeeeee .....
@Gauri - deja vu!
@Ruchira - thank you...I didn't do much to teach her to laugh/smile, she is a natural and I'm just lucky!
@Ramesh - If it was you, I would have gladly shifted her high chair next to you while I had my dosa, and then invited you over to our house too :P!
